San Juan, PR, April 4, 2016 – Tom Payne, President of the Puerto Rico Football Club proudly announced today that  goalkeeper Trevor Spangenberg and striker Sidney Rivera,  two players with Major League Soccer experience, will join the Puerto Rico Football Club for this upcoming inaugural season.

Trevor, 24; becomes the second keeper to sign for PRFC. After playing four seasons at Missouri State University, Trevor signed on with Chivas USA and made an appearance for the MLS side against the Houston Dynamo.  After the dissolution of Chivas USA, he was signed by the New England Revolution of MLS. The PRFC staff spotted Trevor during the preseason with the Revs, and he has been on the radar ever since.  He gained valuable playing experience at the Richmond Kickers last season and brings athleticism, agility and stature to PRFC.

Sidney is a Staten Island native who played four years at Old Dominion University. He scored 9 goals in 2014 which led to him being picked in the 2015 Major League Super draft by Orlando City.  Sidney is a physically imposing striker with real skill who can run, and who has a bright future, and can soon become a fan favorite at PRFC.

“We are really pleased to announce the signing of Sidney and Trevor.  Both players come to us from Major League Soccer teams, and both are really highly thought of prospects.   We look forward to each of them bringing their MLS experience to the team, while making major contributions on the field in 2016”, said Tom Payne, President of PRFC.
