San Juan, PR– Puerto Rico Football Club proudly announced today that Kyle Culberston, a versatile left footed player who was highly impressive in the inaugural Puerto Rico Open try out last month will join the Puerto Rico Football Club for this upcoming season.

"I just wanted to show what I can do and I believed in myself that I was good enough to make the team. Now I'm happy to be in the squad, competing for time on the field with this great group of guys, and excited for the fall season", said Culberston.

Kyle played mainly as a left back at the Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium, and looked assured, comfortable on the ball, and polished defensively. In 2009 Kyle was a captain of the Columbus Crew academy and claimed a National title with them in 2011. There, his gifted left foot saw him play many minutes as a midfielder and was a regular scorer from free kicks.

In 2012 he became a freshman at Columbia and was immediately involved in the action. By his senior season in 2015, he had become one of the Big Ten “Players to watch” and was recognized as the Ohio State Buckeyes top player.

“This player is interesting as we found him at the PR local tryout. He is from the Midwest and paid his way here for the tryout. We kept him on for several days after and ended up offering him a contract”, said Neill Sillett, Technical Director of PRFC.
