San Juan, Puerto Rico- Giuseppe Gentile has been named as NASL’s Player of the Week. The forward scored the first goal in the 3-0 win against FC Edmonton and provided the assist on the second goal of the night.
“It’s an honor being named Player of the Week,” said Gentile as he found out about the selection. “I will definitely strive to keep improving and to contribute more to this team.”
The forward is the first PRFC player to be awarded this honor and gives all the credit to his teammates, coaching staff and the Club for the success he's had this season.
“This Club has definitely helped me express myself in many different ways that I haven’t been able to before. I think that my teammates and coaching staff are feeding me with confidence, which is letting me be myself on the field. Because of that, I feel I am reaching my full potential.”
After the goal, Gentile removed his jersey to reveal a message that's very important to him, imploring for a cure to pediatric cancer.
“I did it because since I was young I’ve been visiting children’s hospitals, and in all of them I saw recurring episodes of kids being readmitted because the cancer came back and that got to me. I am starting to get involved here in Puerto Rico and I will keep doing what I can to raise awareness.”
Puerto Rico FC will host the San Francisco Deltas next Saturday, June 10th in PRFC Ball Night. Every boy and girl will receive a soccer ball when they enter the stadium with their ticket while supplies last. Get your ticket now at PRTicket.com, puertoricofc.com/ticket or call 787-722-PRFC.
